The first week in residence at the farm, we find that a house built by a tobacco farmer might have some issues 100 years later. The image to the left is a visual representation of the 100 year old hand dug well that serves the house. We had a Well Guy come out today and take a look to see if he can figure out why we have 11psi water pressure and smells like sulfur. Well Guy went into the scary basement showing no fear. (Should I mention the giant snake skins draping from the rafters I thought? Nawwww) Well guy found the expansion tank, and the pump from the Nixon years. He says he’s never seen “one of these” before, referring to a 20 foot deep hand-dug well that relies on rain water. He said we are going to need a new well.
