Lost Boy

Around December we started seeing a lone ring necked pheasant hanging round the farm, then our house. Jeff started throwing sunflower seeds for our new pet pheasant we named “Lost Boy”. Every morning around 830 he would emerge from the woods and peck around where the last breakfast was served outside the living room window. He’s not that smart, if I didn’t throw the sunflower seeds right under his face, he would lose them in the grass and then complain to me. After a couple of weeks of serving breakfast, he started to talk to me. Click the video below, it was adorable. Not long after we established the morning routine, he disappeared… I miss Lost Boy.

My friend Leigh Slayden painted a portrait of Lost Boy.
