I blame the algorithm for filling my feed with fluffy cows. I was scrolling away one day waiting for the water trough to fill up when I saw him… a big boy with brown wind swept bangs. It was love at first sight, he was absolutely gorgeous!

His name is Sterling, and he’s a handsome 2 year old bull from the same farm in Frederick where Rosie came from. I contacted the farmer who made the post and claimed this handsome boy. Before Sterlings arrival we made arrangements for making him a steer. He’s about 200 lbs bigger than Rosie, and we were not yet ready for breeding.

Sterling arrived on November 10, 2024. Until Sterling entered the pasture, Rosie had reigned supreme as the resident Boss Cow. When a new member of the herd is introduced it temporarily upsets the hierarchy. The two strongest contenders push each other head to head to determine who wins the Boss Cow title. Rosie was not keen on giving up her title. She and Sterling pushed each other around the pasture for a couple of hours before she accepted her #2 rank. She was sweaty and tired by late afternoon. Sugar wasn’t even in the competition, poor guy wasn’t even invited to compete.

It didn’t take long for them to bond as a herd. Sterling is a gentleman, a calm demeanor and he loves to be brushed and receive chin scratches.
